About Easy

Mr Easy

Mr Easy is a man over-flowing with music and melodies that deal with the more harmonious aspects of life and living. Mr. Easy, who was named for his laid back and easy demeanor joined a crew of DJ’s and experimented with some of the lyrics that he had been writing since he first went to high school. He soon began performing at the legendary night clubs in Brooklyn, singing songs made popular by Dennis Brown. Barry, a local producer introduced Easy to an actual recording studio to record a cover version of the Isley Brother’s hit “Caravan Of Love”. He cites Marvin Gaye, Donny Hathaway, Gladys Knight as well as Erik B and Rakim among his major musical influences. Hence why he chose to take on the challenge to win his shot into the music business via New York City’s famous Apollo Theatre where almost every solo singer that ventured onto that stage was booed and shamed off by the legendary “Mr Sandman”. Mr Ian Dyer at the time, was more than successful, he brought the crowd to it’s feet leading to a record deal with the one and only Quincy Jones on his label Quest Records. Easy recounts how Sidney Mills and a Steel Pulse member helped him write “Just Be A Lady” which he sung to win. The crowd went wild and cheered while Easy received congratulations and encouragement the likes of Patti LaBelle to his surprise.
Extensive touring of the United States, Europe, Japan and the Caribbean with fellow Jamaican artists such as; Beres Hammond, Shinehead, Red Fox, Shaggy, Buju Banton, Wayne Wonder, Mr Vegas, Baby Cham and Maxi Priest. This came while he was working on his never to be released the second album for Warner Brothers with Mickey Bennett that he met Dave Kelly and a long-term alliance was formed. Easy feels that the experiences of performing and recording in New York combined with maintaining a working base in Jamaica have enabled a crystallization of ideas to take place where he can let his creativity shine. Since dedicating himself to years of recording with top producers like Dave Kelly, the melodic quality of Mr. Easy’s voice has been in much demand.
Within the element of now, Mr Easy has started his own label “Asid Reignz Music” to govern his brand and handle other business opportunities. Musically he is currently finalizing a project with Grammy nominated producer Ricky Blaze titled “The Don” which is his highly anticipated EP. The current single from “The Don EP” is Bashment Gal, which is bringing back that feel good vibe to dancehall music. He also has projects with MTV Europe Music & Brit Music Awards Nominee Major Lazor dropping later this year. Mr Easy is always touring the college circuit and most Dancehall & Reggae events throughout the United States, United Kingdom and various Caribbean & African countries.
